Dublin, Ireland, 15 December 2025
VisionGreen Consultancy has been officially appointed as one of Ireland’s SDG Champions by the Minister for Climate, Energy and the Environment, recognising the company’s national leadership in practical, commercially grounded climate action.

The SDG Champions Programme was developed to raise public awareness of the SDGs and to demonstrate, through the examples provided by the SDG Champions, that everyone in society can make a contribution to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The role of an SDG Champion is to act as an advocate and promoter of the SDGs and as a good practice example of how an organisation can contribute to the SDGs and integrate the SDGs into their work and activities.

The key message of the Champions Programme is that the SDGs are for everyone in society and that everyone can make a contribution to their success.

Minister for Climate, Energy and the Environment, Darragh O'Brien opened the call for applications to the 2025 – 2027 SDG Champions Programme in June 2025. Speaking at the launch, Minister O’Brien said: “The world faces huge challenges in achieving the SDGs, with only 18% of the goals currently on track globally. However, this year, as we mark the 70th anniversary of Ireland’s membership of the United Nations, we are committed to achieving the vision and ambition of Agenda 2030, a roadmap for a fairer, safer, more prosperous, and sustainable world. In fulfilling the ambition of the SDGs, we have made considerable progress, but more is needed, and faster, from all stakeholders – locally, nationally and internationally.

Based in Carlow and working with organisations across the country, VisionGreen has become a trusted partner for companies seeking to reduce emissions, lower costs and embed sustainability into core business practice. Since 2018, the consultancy has supported more than 300 Irish businesses, ranging from small family-run enterprises to major national operators, by delivering solutions that strengthen both environmental performance and commercial resilience.

VisionGreen’s work aligns directly with several UN SDGs, particularly SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), SDG 13 (Climate Action), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). The company is certified to ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 and is an established partner of Enterprise Ireland, Local Enterprise Offices and the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland.

One of VisionGreen’s most significant national contributions has been its collaboration with DHL on Ireland’s largest heavy-logistics decarbonisation initiative, supporting the transition to 50 biomethane-fuelled trucks and enabling annual CO₂ reductions of more than 5,000 tonnes. Alongside major projects, VisionGreen has delivered over 100 SEAI energy audits and supported more than 150 SMEs through the LEO Green for Business programme, helping businesses identify substantial savings while reducing their environmental footprint.

Speaking about the announcement, Ronan Murphy, Co-Founder and Director of VisionGreen, said:“We are honoured to be selected as an SDG Champion by the Department of Climate, Energy and The Environment. For us, sustainability has always been about practical action, solutions that reduce emissions, cut waste and genuinely help Irish businesses thrive. Being chosen for this programme is a powerful recognition of the impact our team’s work is having across the country. We look forward to using this platform to show how the SDGs can be made real and accessible for organisations of every size.”

VisionGreen will now join the national network of SDG Champions for an 18-month period beginning December 2025. The programme aims to raise public awareness of the SDGs and to highlight tangible examples of local, community and business leadership in advancing sustainable development in Ireland.
